From the establishment of MESTI in March 1979, the institute was rename the National Institute of Education Management (NIEM) in 1984. It changed its name to Institute Aminuddin Baki (IAB) in March 1988 in memory and honour of the late Chief Education Advisor for the Federation of Malaya, Allahyarham Aminuddin Baki. Since then IAB was no longer a part of the Teacher Training Division but an independent institute that functions as a training institution in educational management for the entire Ministry of Education. According to the Federal Education Policy, originally declare in the Education Ordinance, 1975, the national system of education should satisfy the needs of the nation by providing efficient instruction, avoid unreasonable public expenditure, provide education that fulfill the wishes of the parent with the national language as the main medium of instruction. Education in Malaysia is on-going effort towards further developing the potential of individuals in a holistic and integrated manner, in order to produce individuals who are intellectually, spiritually, emotionally and physically balance and harmonious, based on a firm belief in and devotion to God. Such an effort is designed to produce Malaysian citizens who are knowledgeable, who possess high moral standards, and who are responsible and capable of achieving a high level of personal well-being in addition to being able to contribute to the advancement of society and nation. |
